One of the biggest features near us is the Pantano or man made reservoir. This enormous lake which nestles between the mountains and hills which surround us, is a place of spectacular beauty, and ideal for hiking, or walking your furry companion. A place to commune with nature, to de-stress and connect with your inner Zen. If you prefer to be more active, you can hire a Kayak, or go on a guided tour, take your paddleboard for an outing, or simply go swimming in this freshwater “inland sea.” No sand in your swimming costume or salty water here!

Also at the Pantano is a small restaurant with a lovely terrace overlooking the lake, where Jaime and Linda offer local Catalan specialities and simple hearty Tapas to a local clientele, and the many tourists who flock to this spectacular destination in the Season. Booking is advisable/essential in the Summer months.

A lively and popular resort with a Yachting Marina and a large sandy expanse of beach lined with restaurants and hotels – a favourite for Italian cuisine is La Sicilia.

Famous, chic and exclusive. This tiny resort can only be reached via a road over the mountain, so although the queues to reach it can be extreme in High Season, it really is worth the journey – wander through the backstreets, browse in the little independent boutiques, have lunch overlooking the bay – our favourite restaurant is Casa Nun, which sits at the top of a flight of steps and looks out over the bay and mountains. A hop, skip and a jump away, and you will be at the Dali House at Port Lligat, Dali’s summer residence at the coast – make sure you book!

This whole area of Catalunya is renowned for artists who came here to seek out the crystalline light which is a feature of being between the mountains and the sea; most famous here is Dali, whose Museum and Foundation can be found in the centre of Figueres (booking essential in High Season,) or you can also visit the Dali House by the seaside at Port Ligat, about a 40 minute drive from us, and also a hop, skip and a jump from Cadaques.

In the village of Darnius guests will find La Concordia in the main square - the centre of local life in the village, this is a place to come and get tapas and the local gossip, and the owners also arrange events during Fiestas - a very pleasant place to while away a few hours!
